Very Restful Sunday

This morning, at just before 9am,  I set off with Julian, first to the City Centre and then to the airport.

We took Chapman’s Peak Drive which, on a spectacular Sunday morning, was busy with cyclists, runners, tourists and tour coaches, all vying for space on the very beautiful but narrow road. At one stage I overtook a bunch of cyclists on the left, leaving so much space that I drove literally in the middle of the road with the white line right beneath me. There were no cars coming towards me. There were however, a bunch of cyclists coming towards me. To our astonishment, one of the oncoming cyclists (riding two or three abreast)  shook his fist at me! I was stuck between cyclists on the left and on the right. Can’t win. Most cyclists are also drivers. There needs to be mutual respect. Anyway, we got over the pass safe and sound and enjoyed the view of the ocean.

Our first stop was at the house where we bought a second-hand plan pen for Elsie. Higgovale. Lots of security under Table Mountain.

Then it was onto the Blue Cafe for a quick cappuccino before the airport…breakfast view…a peak of Lion’s Head..got to love Cape Town.

On the way back from the airport I passed a fatal accident on the M3. A car had crashed into a bakkie at the entrance to Newlands Forest on the M3 inbound  I was travelling in the opposite direction and caught site of the tell-tale shiny foil blanket covering the deceased. It was so sobering. That person woke up this morning and took a drive into Cape Town on a perfect summer’s day. He/she didn’t know it would be their last journey.  I found a picture of the cars involved on social media..1 dead, 8 injured…

Very sad. I prayed for those involved. By the time I passed by, The M3 had been closed and the emergency personnel were waiting for the coroner. Everyone else had been taken to hospital.

I also listened to CCFm while on my way home. The music was brilliant!

When I got home, Mike had sorted the house, bought the newspaper, made coffee and there was nothing for me to do except relax. And so relax I did. I have rested pretty much the rest of the day and into the evening. One of my fun things to do is this…can it be one of my 1000 thanks?

#949 of my 1000 thanks is the great pleasure I get out of doing the Samurai Sudoku in the Sunday Times. Today’s was easy.  It was supposed to take an hour and 5 minutes. It took me an hour and 50 minutes This was last weeks…It was supposed to take 2 hours and ten minutes. It took me three or four days, on and off! Notice the tippex! I made  a couple of errors and looked up a couple of numbers to get myself back on track – full disclosure 😉

Love them!

I’m going to wrap this up and then do a bit of work (maybe!) so I can be on top of the email that’s waiting for me before tomorrow.

Proverbs 10:22

The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it .

Very interesting Bible verse.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
