Under the House

Monday

Today was the day…

I took a photo of under the house! I think that idea piqued some curiosity yesterday so today when at Echo, I took a photo. Firstly, this space is just after the entrance to the ground floor which is the one bedroomed unit we will use as a rental. It’s the one where the kitchen is almost finished. Below it is the basement. Above it is Mike and my floor and above that is Julian’s, so it’s the second level. When it was being built it looked like this:

This is now its entrance….and under the house is just to the right of it. The big wall above forms the left side of the crawl space.

This is the crawl space…it’s a bit of a scramble but in the future we could excavate quite a lot of this area and it could be turned into quite a functional workshop or office.

It’s just amazing how much of the house has now been built. A year ago, we were in limbo with the build. In July last year, we were trying to get neighbour’s permission and had stalled as two of them had special requirements before we could go ahead. On 21st July, Mike and I went to Scarborough and sat on some rocks and prayed. Mike remembers it well. Despite all the uncertainty at the time, he felt confident to pray for no more obstacles ahead. Over the coming months, those challenges melted away, we had no resistance from the neighbours and we paid Council Scrutiny fees on 17th October. If you had said to me a year ago that we would be this far by now, I would not be able to imagine it.

Today I did a bit of work and then went with Mike to buy wire for the solar system.

Be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while.

The best is yet to come.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,
