Sunday
Today was the day…
Mike and I woke quite early and decided to walk to the beach. It was overcast but not too cold. We joined loads of other beach goers, including these three brave ladies who donned summer swim suits and swimming caps but took a bit of time getting into the 16 C water!
After a walk on the beach, we meandered across to the grocery store and bought a few toiletries and then decided to check out Fish Hoek Methodist Church to see if they were open for in-church services. They were, so we took our seats.
There were only about 30 people present. Social distancing was observed and masks worn. It was a lovely service. Good to be back in church again for the first time in a very long time.
The walk home was interesting because a faint drizzle changed to light rain and we arrived home damp and chilly.
After warming up, I had a Skype chat with Stacey and Elsie and then I drove to the shops to buy some groceries for lunch. Mike and I have found the way to make 80 steps seem less. Yesterday we walked to Fish Hoek along the cat walk to buy groceries. After loading our ruck sacks, we returned the same way and towards the end of the cat walk, I started counting the steps it would take to get us home.
- To the top of the Sunnycove Bridge: 43 (including the 9 on the cat walk before it)
- Up Echo Steps: 120
- To our front door:82
Total:245.
When you walk up 245 steps, 80 steps seems less. When I went shopping and came home by car, it was only 80 steps! Yesterday I did them 6 times. Today only 3 or 4.
David, Jess and Gerrie came for lunch. Gerrie has given us the dishwasher lesson and it’s now done two loads of dishes!
I worked a little this afternoon and then John and Avril came for tea. It was great to see them. They loved the view. John left us with Haggai 2:9…
The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘And in this place I will grant peace,’ declares the Lord Almighty.”
Amen!!
Now it’s the end of the weekend. I can’t end the blog without mentioning that Aunty Wyn passed away on this day 2 years ago. Beloved Aunty Wyn. Loved, missed, remembered and appreciated.

Isaiah 63:5
I will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord, the deeds for which He is to be praised, according to all the Lord has done for us.
The best is yet to come.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
