5-49am
Today we have Professor Tim Noakes in the Rise and Shine studio from 7-8am. It’s always a thought provoking, educational hour. If you have arrived at this blog because you have tuned in and heard about it, there are two main spots to look on this blog for information about eating a low carb diet. Check them out on the menu across the top. To help, you can find the 3 Day Low Carb eating plan here.
All the previous talks by Prof Tim are here while my guidelines for eating LCHF you will find here.
One of the things that always ‘gets’ me when I listen to Tim Noakes is that nothing is always as it seems. Of 80 people who take simvastatin for high cholesterol only 1 (yes ONE) will benefit. And that staggering statistic is only in those who have had heart attacks. If you haven’t had a heart attack, it will only benefit 1 in something like 150. High cholesterol really reveals a deeper issue that is related to insulin/glucose/diabetic underlying causes. Get your HBA1C tested next time you have a blood test done. Mine was the upper edge of normal at 5.6%.
Some of the symptoms of diabetes:
Increased thirst and needing to pass water
Tiredness, failure to thrive
Weight loss although you may feel hungry
Wounds don’t heal as quickly as they used to
Tingling or numbness in extremities (hands and feet)
Vision may become blurred
Always good to monitor your blood sugar level before eating and 90 minutes after eating, to see exactly what the food you consume is doing to you.
If you are female and over forty and fabulous, you may not be losing weight because you are eating too much carbohydrate (reduce to 50g daily), or you having too much dairy, or you simply are eating too much. Reduce the amount you eat. Appetite control is important.
Important supplements to take are Vitamins D, E, A & K.
This is Prof Tim with me and Dr. Neville Wellington.
And so on we go, just trying to live a healthy life and be the best we can be. When we know better, we do better.
Deuteronomy 20 vs 4 says, “For the Lord your God is the One who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
