Tim Noakes Defends The Diet…

2-25pm

This morning on Rise and Shine Wayne had a chat with Professor Tim Noakes about his recent activities, including a lecture he gave to 400 doctors at the SA Medical Association Conference.  He, in a few minutes,  defends the LCHF diet, briefly explaining his research and the response he received from the doctors at the conference. It’s worth the 5 minute listen…

Tim Noakes at the SAMA Conference

As for me and my LCHF journey, after 10 months,  I think I have finally  ‘got it!’ One of the things that Tim said to me as he was leaving CCFm the other month was that appetite control also comes into it. For women in their 40s with hormonal changes, it’s difficult to shift those extra kilograms. Men find it a whole lot easier. So now that I’m eating twice a day, with a cappuccino in the middle (heavily laden with cream), two things have happened. To start with, I feel great! I’ve got a lot of energy. I’m not hungry, my stomach feels amazing and I’m seeing the scale number slowly starting to drop. I only want to lose 5kg, but without a doubt, the last 5 is the hardest! I am tempted not to look at the scale – just to keep on eating twice a day. I don’t want to be silly and be ‘climbing the wall’ by dinner time, so I am trying to gauge how I feel as the afternoon progresses.  By doing this for the last two weeks, it has become more and more evident that we eat way too much anyway. Sometimes, I find myself thinking, ‘my mouth feels as if it should be doing something!’ That’s when I ask, ‘am I thirsty, am I bored, I am stressed, am I tired or am I actually, truly hungry?’ Usually, I’m thirsty, & a glass of water does the trick. I wish I’d cut out carbs and sugar years ago.  I saw this on FB the other day…quite a thought…

Sugar deadlier than cigarettesIf you think all this Low Carb HIGH FAT stuff is flawed, the very least you can do for yourself is cut refined carbohydrates and sugar from your diet. That will be the first step to better health.

In the Bible, Paul says such an interesting thing:

1 Corinthians 8:8  But food does not bring us near to God;

Thought provoking!

God bless you and have a sweet weekend!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
