11-58am
Today, I really feel as if I am on holiday. We woke up at about 5am and by 5-45am, I was in the sea. Fish Hoek beach looked absolutely fantastic…
The water was warm and the waves gentle. I’m not inclined to go too far out until the shark spotters are around, but I spent about 15 minute splashing about and another 15 minutes sitting on the bench enjoying the early morning. What a way to begin the day!
Home for a shower and coffee. Mike went to work. I did my Bible reading…
If you’ve never read through the Bible in a year before, it’s best to get into a routine and stick to it. You need to read for about 15 minutes every day. For those that missed it, you can access the Bible reading plan from the website http://www.oneyearbibleonline.com/. Print it out and read for half an hour and you will have caught up. It will be worth it.
Here’ what I was reminded of this morning: After the fall, when sin entered the world, from that moment on, man had to be careful that he didn’t fall into sin. After Cain & Abel arrived and God accepted Abel’s offering and not Cain’s, God saw that Cain was on the edge of monumental evil. In Genesis 4:7, God speaks to Cain,
“If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”
A few things here. God sees the heart. He knows your anger issues, your motives and your thoughts. We often don’t understand God’s plan for us – we need to remain humble and vigilant. It’s human nature to sin and do wrong, but we have to master our emotions and desires. We must rule over it.
These words from God echo down the centuries and are as applicable to us today as they were then. They are the reason why I so often promote the reading of God’s Word. The Bible keeps me on the straight and narrow. Throughout the Bible there is advice just like this. Do what is right. Guard your heart. Watch your attitude. Sin is crouching at your door and it desires to have you. You must master it. Be alert.
Deceit, adultery, theft, greed, murder all begin with the smallest of seeds.
Do what is right.
Keep the smile going – it’s 2015 and each day is important!
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
