Tuesday
Today was the day…
We woke up after an evening of drama. Sometimes there are things that can’t be written about and last nights activities will have to wait a few weeks or months before they drift onto this platform. (It was not family related). The end result was that it was resolved during the course of today and by this evening, Mike, David and I all sighed a big sigh of relief at the prospect of a peaceful night. What’s interesting is the amount of subtle stress that I felt. Only my watch revealed it. 8 hours of medium or high stress. How does my watch know? I guess it’s my average heart rate.
A few years ago when we were trying to get our building plans through Council, there was another thing that couldn’t be written about. Now I can mention it. One of the people that had to approve our plans tried to bribe us. He said he would sign if we paid him R40000! We chose not to go this route, although the builder did tell the building inspector that it had happened and the building inspector said it would be fine for us to pay it if we declared it to Council. Anyway, we couldn’t bring ourselves to go down that road. It delayed the start of the build by about three months and now it’s all of no consequence.
Life is always full of issues that are out of our individual control. You do the best you can at the time. You can’t control people.
This afternoon, Mike and I walked to Fish Hoek. To our surprise, while walking along the cat walk, we saw a penguin! Poor thing seems to have had come adrift from the Simon’s Town colony. Perhaps he was washed away by the storm.
We went to Fish Hoek to the optometrist where Mike had a full appointment. I did the eye test for my driver’s license renewal which is imminent. We also had photos taken, so we now have all we need to make the process as smooth as possible.
Hopefully, tomorrow we will get to go swimming.
Last day of August 2021.
Joshua 1:9
Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
