Friday
Today was the day…
A number of things happened at the building site. I feel as if I am in a dream….living someone else’s life. I’m standing on the edge seeing things happen aware that they are happening for me but not completely assimilating this information. I haven’t got used to the idea that this is my house that is being built. For the first time when I woke early this morning, I tried to imagine what it would be like waking up in my Echo house bedroom. That was the first time since this process began that I imagined waking up in that room. Each day when things happen, the reality of this being our new home in a few short weeks sinks in a little deeper.
Today Mike worked from home on some woodwork. Courage was at the site, attaching down-lights. He whatsapped me a video. The plumber was there installing the bath. Yesterday, I convinced Mike to try it out…
This bathroom has been a work in progress. The window in front of the bath is not on the plans. I convinced Mike to add it and it’s now a great success.
This is the video Courage sent me…the plumber testing the jets…
I think we will be fighting to try it out. Courage said the water was quite warm already from the solar geyser just doing its thing. Because this bathroom is at the top of the house, the hot water gets there quickly! Fun bathing time ahead!
I was soon to get another call from Courage to say the appliances had arrived. I asked him to take delivery of them and just to put them in the lounge. We’ll install them later. They included the dishwater, hob, oven and fridge. So this is what happened:
12:59Β Courage phones to say the appliances have arrived and can he sign for them. Sure no problem. We don’t need to be there.
14:23 Courage phones again and says there’s a problem and can I call him back. I call him back and he says they are taking the fridge back to the warehouse because they can’t get it up the stairs. They have called the supervisor out and he has said they don’t want to risk it. I ask if they have left yet. He says they haven’t. I tell him to tell them not to leave. I’ll phone Werner.
14:26 I phone Werner and ask if Werner’s men can do it. They know the stairs and they are used to lugging heavy stuff up there. Werner says if they drop the fridge and it gets damaged, he’s not responsible. No problem.
14:29 I phone Werner again and say if it’s too slippery on the stairs, they can put the fridge in the garage until it’s dry enough. He says it’s not slippery but if it gets damaged, he’s not responsible. I say that’s fine as long as the guys don’t get hurt.
14:37 I whatsapp Courage to ask him to let me know how it goes.
14:39 Courage sends me this message with the picture: there’s your fridge!
Werninator strikes again! Took his men minutes to get it up the stairs. Courage said the Tafelberg Furnisher guys were amazed! Courage and David set about getting it into position…
Meanwhile, the tanks have also been put into their final home…
They will be the main toilet water source. We still have about a metre and half to the boundary for a stairway and veggie patch.
There are other things that are happening but they are photos for another day.Β Valerie Gail visited me at home as well. She will be renting the front portion of our current house when we move. π

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.
The best is yet to come.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.

1 year and 317 days – I saw the dentist today. He’s suggested I go to the surgeon who put the implant in to see if it has integrated and when it has, I can come back and see him for the crown. I’ll only see the surgeon in mid- November I think, 5 months after surgery.
