It’s all in the pictures! Yesterday afternoon, Julian, Mike & I went for what was supposed to be an hour long walk. We parked on Ou Kaapse Weg, on the Cape Town side of the turnoff to Silvermine Village. We decided we would walk for half an hour and then walk back and see how far we got up the old ‘wa-pad’. The route actually takes you to all the way to the Silvermine Reservoir, but we only walked about 2.7km along the path and then turned back…
I would love to go further, which we will do one day when the weather’s overcast and cool. Here are some of the views we enjoyed…this is looking down towards Silvermine Village…
…and a little further on, we had a fabulous view towards Fish Hoek…
When we got to the spot we turned back, this was the panoramic view…
We walked for an hour and a half and it was fabulous. On arrival home, we had just enough time to freshen up before heading to the Fish Hoek Galley for a lovely dinner. Love the view from our table…
After dinner, we went home, leaving the lights off for Earth Hour. This morning, I woke early and sprang into action preparing the picnic food for our visit to the Fish Hoek Methodist Church family day picnic…this is from the front…
…and this is from where we were sitting…
Ronnie Cawood spoke very well! There are only two places in the Bible where we are told Jesus wept. The first most people know is when He wept over the death of Lazarus. The 2nd is this one:
Luke 19:41 As He approached Jerusalem and saw the city, He wept over it.
Ronnie made three comments on this verse:
1. When Jesus looked at Jerusalem, He saw the chaos the city was in. It distressed Him. When Jesus looks at us, does He see a sad state of affairs ? Do we cause Jesus to weep?
2. Jesus wept because He had compassion and as He had compassion on Jerusalem, He has compassion on us.
3. Jesus tears bring us healing. Don’t miss this opportunity to reach out to Jesus. Today is the day of salvation. If God is knocking at the door or your heart, respond to Him. He offers us peace. Accept it.
Good message!
Then we had a picnic……and a lot of family fun. Old and young joined in the games with three legged races and egg and spoon races. It’s a lovely family church!
We were home by 11am and shortly after that, Julian and I drove into Cape Town to say hello to Granny. She is looking very well today, having had her hair done this morning. Also the little sore on her nose is finally healing nicely. Her ankle is less swollen, so I was altogether thrilled. We took her out to the rose garden for a short time. Each time she goes, the roses hold as much pleasure for her as the very first time she saw them!
She has on my denim jacket because it was quite chilly outside and I didn’t take her coat for her. YaY! Granny! You look lovely today!
And now we are watching cricket, waiting, hopefully, for South Africa to wrap up the series against Pakistan. This is looking quite tense.
The new week beckons.
God bless you loads!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
