The Sneering Laugh of the Starling

It was that jarring chirrup that got me out of bed this morning. Yesterday I put a fresh new seed ball out for the sun birds. The starlings will make short work of it. They would absolutely get more if they kept their mouths shut, but it is their downfall every time. I heard their sneering laugh and leaped out of bed to scare them off. They rushed away!

Until then, I had spent the early morning in bed, first having coffee and my quiet time and then working. My computer was so very slow due to a massive windows update coming in.

# 376 of my thousand thanks – Big Window Update DONE!

I started this blog about ten hours ago. It’s now 10-18pm and I’m blessed to come back to my computer and finish it! What a day. Eight hours of work, a drive otm (over the mountain) to drop off the hundred boxes….needed two cars for it so Mike joined me. Here are the 100 boxes in the back of the van…

And here’s the van…

So after I got home, I worked for a couple of hours. Mike made a fantastic spaghetti bolognaise, we watched half a Location, Location, Location and then headed for the airport to pick up Julian.

After we got home, we proceeded to start moving some of the boxes of books in our spare room to the garage. We moved 72 boxes and are about a third done. So what this is all about is that the spare room has over time been filled up with books that Julian has bought in Cape Town for his flourishing  book business in Johannesburg. With the new consignment that he is collecting tomorrow, there is no more space in the book room, so an 18 tonne container is arriving Friday morning to pick up all the books from stored in our house as well as all the books from the consignment. It’s all happening over the next 48 hours. Then the container will trundle back to Johannesburg and Julian will take delivery Monday or Tuesday.

Julian has admitted that after this, he will slow down on book buying!

So after we had moved some of the boxes, we had tea and then went for a quick walk around the block just to get some fresh air and exercise. We have strategize over tomorrow’s events and hope to have all the books from the consignment in our garage by mid afternoon.

That will be a load off our minds, but the real joy will come when we watch the container drive away on Friday morning. Julian will probably be on tenterhooks until it arrives in Johannesburg next week, but he has been assured that it is insured.

Psalm 23:4

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

The darkest valley. I have been through some dark valleys before and it is true. God was with me and He comforted me.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going!

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
