That darn cat. I know it’s cold and I know that it’s warm in my bed, but tonight, young lady, you will not sleep in my bed! When we go to bed tonight, we will close our bedroom door and make sure sweet Truffles is outside of it. While she looks as if butter won’t melt in her mouth and the urge is there to stroke her fluffy winter mane, behind those languid eyes lies a cat determined to find the warmest spot in the house, regardless of the inconvenience to anyone in her way.
I don’t know how many times I woke up in the night to either get her out the bed or prevent her from getting in. She, at one stage, loved Mike’s cupboard and would creep in their and settle down on his dressing gown. A couple of times last night I took her and put her in the cupboard. She was not happy about this arrangement. Every time I went to move her, she growled. Yes! She growled AT ME! Little rotter! In fact this morning, she actually hissed at me, just daring me to move her out of her comfort zone.
She got her own way and now, as I write, she is still there…as warm as toast…
And not looking as if she is about to move! Warmth trumps hunger me thinks!
And cold it has been today! Feels like snow somewhere.
Sometimes I look at Truffles and marvel at the fact that God created animals for us. This little furry (exasperating) bundle of fluff has given us a lot of joy. Her crazy cat idiosyncrasies just add to the entertainment we get out of her. She is a cat who gives affection on her terms. When she wants to, she will enjoy being petted and stroked. But if I pick her up when I feel like warming my freezing cheeks against her warm coat, she may quickly wriggle out of my arms like a petulant toddler.
Don’t you just love cats?
God’s creativity knows no bounds and the thing is that we only get a fraction of it. If this is the fun we have to play with this side of eternity, can you just imagine what He has in store for us in eternal life?
Isaiah 11:6 gives us a glimpse…
The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together; and a little child shall lead them.
Just think how much fun that will be.
These are the days – yet still Truffles you won’t be sleeping in my bed tonight!
Keep the smile going.
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
