12noon
Last night Mike & I headed off to Fish Hoek High School to see The Big Picture. This was a massive show produced by Valley Christian Church in support of the Sunflower Fund. With Marshall Music taking care of lights, sound and camera, it was jam packed with a 4-d experience of note. It traced a musical journey through difference movie themes, beginning, including adventure, chick flicks, comedy, children’s movies, big band and action. The blending of costumes, song and dance with the the movie visuals displayed on the massive background screen made it a unique feast for the eyes. When snow was falling in the movie, thousands of paper snow flakes descended on the viewers, adding authenticity to the production. I’ve never seen a ‘volunteer’ production so professionally produced. Abseiling action figures glided down from the ceiling ….
Landing in the middle amidst the crowd…
Actors ran past, bring the stage to the audience…
You didn’t know where to look next! The use of light and height and colour added to the visual delight…
And loads of dancers brought movement and vibrancy…
There were at least 2 cameramen who recorded events and put them up on one of the huge side screens…
Well known very talented local singer Paige Mac sang several of the songs…
Costumes were varied and entertaining…
Even Mrs Doubtfire put in an appearance…
It had all the elements of success. Professional, extremely well produced, entertaining, all for a good cause and to sell-out audiences. I had to smile this morning when I discovered a Gumtree advert needing a ticket for tonight’s performance…
Apart from the good cause of the Sunflower Fund, a parallel was drawn between all we had seen in the Big Picture and the fact that there is a Bigger Picture in life. God is the ultimate Stage Manager and He sees all that happens. When we trust Him, we are safe in His care. It was not an overt Christian performance, but a fantastic show put on by Christians.
I think VCC did a great a job in making their light shine.
Matthew 5:16
16″Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
There’s a matinee this afternoon and an evening performance. I hear that both are almost sold out, but you can find out by going to Fish Hoek High School on 13th Avenue Fish Hoek.
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
