1-53pm
Sometimes something completely unexpected happens that stays with you for the rest of your life. What happened on this day 4 years ago is one of those things. It was a regular Thursday morning and the Rise and Shine show unfolded in the normal way. We have a phone in fun at about 7-40am and that was busy taking place. People were calling in and sending text messages through. Suddenly the phone went quiet. It was about 14 minutes to 8 and we had about 7 minutes of music left until we were live again. The phone rang and I answered it. The voice at the other end was that of a young lady who asked if I could put her through to the prayer line. I told her the prayer line number and she replied and said she had tried it and there was no reply. I asked her if she could phone after 8am, to which she replied she couldn’t because she would be working them. Now with about 6 minutes of music left, I asked her what she would like prayer for. “I want to ask Jesus into my life”, she said. Wow! And that’s what I said, followed by, “what has happened that has bought you to this place?” She said her name was Carlyn and that she had been thinking about it for a while. Then this morning she was on the train when the preacher on the train said she had to make a decision and she realised she had to do it. When she got to work, all she could think of was the CCFm number, so she called.
With time running out on the music, I said, ‘okay, let’s pray.’ And simply and quietly I led her in a prayer of repentance and submission and she gave her life to Jesus! We said, “Amen” and then goodbye and I floated through the rest of the day. I remember the day well, because I had been asked to speak at a church meeting and related to them the story that had happened that morning. AND it was also on that day that I got my car! Here it is in its little spot outside CCFm!
CARLYN came to know the Lord the day my CAR arrived!
I actually met her a few weeks later and gave her a Bible someone had donated for her. For the first year or two, I smssed her on the 3rd of every month to encourage her. We may lose touch, but I’ll always appreciate that special blessing. It is absolutely the best thing that ever happened to me while I was on air.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
Isn’t that wonderful?!
God bless you!
In His Grip,

Gratitude Pic – an unusual one for today… it’s a multi-level spider web we encountered on an early morning walk around Swellendam when we were there. For me it represents life and creativity. God majors in both…
I couldn’t see any spiders! 🙂
