Monday
Dear Elsie
Today is the first day of 2024. I would have loved to have gone to the beach but the wind was strong and the swell was high and I decided to forgo the pleasure. I went to bed after midnight last night, staying up to see the new year in. There were a lot of fireworks across the bay – mainly over the Cape Flats and they went on for about 10 minutes. I fell asleep right after that, but still woke up around 5am. I let the cats out, cleaned out their litter tray and made coffee. The 2024 Journey has begun….
It’s just been such a blessing reading through the Bible each year. It sustains me every single day. My goal is to read through the Bible in a year every year until I physically can’t. I started in 2007.
We had a restful morning. I finished puzzle number 3.
I also worked for an hour to clean some of the inboxes ahead of tomorrow.
Later in the afternoon, we decided to braai. We very seldom braai.
It was grand! For dessert, I found a really easy berry pavlova recipe. It’s just so quick. 1 cup self raising flour, 1 cup sugar and 1 cup milk. Whisk well. Liberally grease an oven proof dish and pour in the batter. Then spread about 600g of mixed berries over the top. I got a kg of frozen mixed berries and used just over half the bag. Into the oven for about 45 minutes at 180c or until the crust is brown. It’s great with ice cream.
Today David went for a drive. He has not been out for more than 2 months.
Happy New Year!
Maybe this year, I’ll put in a Bible verse from my daily reading.
Matthew 1:23
“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a Son, and they will call Him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
God will be with us each day of the year & this year there are 366 as it’s a leap year.
It’s not about now – we are only passing through.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Gran xx 🙂
