Team Work

I don’t know if I will be able to get out of bed tomorrow morning! Today I worked both paid work and house/garden work. I started by doing some paid work and then I got stuck into sweeping the patio. The leaves and dirt that had accumulated over the last month was considerable. I swept and swept and swept. Eventually, it looked something like this…

That’s a photo from a few years ago. The delicious monsters are a lot bigger now. It was so good to clean it all up. From there I went to the bedroom and first took the loose carpets onto the balcony to give them a good beating. I left them there and went back to work. While taking breaks, I swept the bedroom and cleaned the bathroom. Eventually, after 4pm, I got back to the carpets outside, beat them, vacuumed them and put them back inside. A good spring clean is what it got.

Then I went outside to help Mike who was weed eating the back garden. He had just about finished the weed-eating. I started sweeping the paving up at the top. Many weeds had grown through the bricks, so I took those out and swept and swept and swept. This was right after it was done in September last year – it will be great if I can get it finished tomorrow so it looks like this again!

It was team work. Mike had done the weed eating and all the washing and I had done my bit. I was sweeping when Mike called me in for dinner. We had 30 minutes before we had to leave for the airport to pick up Julian. I showered and then ate and five minutes later we left for the airport.

Julian has now gone to his house and I am tucked up in bed in my clean bedroom and am enjoying every moment of it! Mike is having some Mike time downstairs.

#464 of my 1000 thanks is for the blisters on my hands – it feels good to have done some manual work for a change!

I am now reading Ezekiel. It is my least favourite book of the Bible, so I started reading it a few months ago so instead of being on chapter 1 today, instead I read the end of chapter 16 and some of chapter 17. I was struck by this verse:

Ezekiel 16:49

“‘Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.”

Arrogant, overfed and unconcerned. What imagery is in that statement. The did not help the poor and needy.

Do not be arrogant, overfed and unconcerned. Help the poor and needy.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
