More than 10 years ago, one Sunday morning after church, a chunk of the congregation drove a short distance away to a large plot of land that was for sale. On the land was an old restaurant building. We all trooped up these stairs …
…. to the second floor of this building…which is now used for marketing…
In those days the roof was thatched and it leaked! Pastor John Thomas explained the possibility of buying the land to begin a new work to help the people of the area who were HIV +. In order to go ahead, he wanted the Lord’s guidance and the church’s advice and support. He got it. The land was bought and since that day, Living Hope, Capri has grown. There’s a health care centre…
There are also a number of tunnels containing veggies such as tomatoes and cucumbers and there’s plenty of land for a planned barn…
The reason I was there was to hunt down the produce of a newish venture. There are agriculture students who work in the tunnels and they also have their own small free range egg business. Recently they got in hen-laying eggs and there are now three egg businesses. “BB Egg Farm” is run by Bomkazi and Bandile. “Back to Eden” is run by Mark and “Good Hope” is run by Einstein. They take care of their chickens and sell the eggs….
After I arrived at Living Hope, I was met by Scott, who took me to meet Bomkazi…here’s Scott henning around….
Bomkazi (her name means Long Life!) sorted my eggs for me…
They cost R2-20 each. So if you are in the Fish Hoek Area, you may want to become a client of these budding entrepreneurs. You can call one of them. Bomkazi 0825785064 / Bandile 0788852226. Mark is 0726790045 and Einstein is 0783004296. Tell them how many you want and they will organise it!
I love supporting local business.
Today, in my Bible reading, I read 1 Kings 19. This is what came to me: From the ancient of times, in the Old Testament, we find people who followed hard after God, yet who experienced burnout and fear. 1 Kings 19 carries the story of Elijah. Exactly how he feels is wrapped up in verse 3, “Elijah was afraid and ran for his life.” Sometimes, when the work you have been doing seems to overwhelm you and threats & uncertainty come from all sides, you may find yourself running for your life. God is with you. In reading more of this chapter, we see God’s care, His compassion and His provision as Elijah fled across mountains and deserts. He arrived at a place where God provided support and help in the form of Elisha. Don’t give up. Cling to God. Follow His ways. Live in obedience to Him and you will find His strength and caring amidst burnout and fear.
So hang in there!
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
