That was how Mike and I began the day. We had left over steak from last night and one-quarter potato, so we had steak, egg and chip each for breakfast! It’s actually been a very chilled day. Mike went off to play golf at Simon’s Town. It’s going to be a very busy course as they were all teeing off at the same time at different tees, so there would be balls flying everywhere. I did not want to join the mayhem and selected to stay home. I have done some housework and managed to pick up another load of boxes. We nearly have enough now.
David stopped by and we had coffee (decaf) and a chat!
This afternoon I went walking with Riana and by the time we had got in and had tea, Mike called to say he was home.
This evening, I have just spent two hours working on the retrenchment package and documentation for Mavis including her UIF, which is no simple task. I hope it works out for her.
She actually called this evening and said she would be here at 8am tomorrow morning to pick up her severance pay! I spoke to her daughter who can speak English and told her to come on Tuesday so that I can get everything together.
#372 of my 1000 thanks is that I’ve broken the back of the what is required in this process.
You have to try to do everything by the book. Worst case scenario is that I get taken to the CCMA and have to pay her six months salary, so I’m just doing that up front. It will be difficult to say I am being unfair. Mavis has been very loyal, honest and cheerful and she deserves every cent.
Now I know where we stand with our domestic affairs, that pile of ironing in the guest room, guess whose baby that is?! I keep telling Mike that when we want to watch a Grand Design or Escape to the Country, we must just set up the ironing board before it starts and I’ll iron while I watch.
Yesterday I read Proverbs 20:7
The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him.
As I think about this, I think of those who have gone before me. The righteous parents, grandparents and great grandparents. Sometimes as I have prayed for the generations to come, I have becomeĀ emotional towards the generations past who prayed for me. They must have been righteous because I am blessed.
These are the days!
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
