My friend Riana married into an Italian family so when it comes to making Spaghetti Bolognaise, she does it right. Mike, not being carbohydrate intolerant, loves ‘spagbol’ & would love to get the recipe right so that we don’t eat it out of a packet or jar. Riana gave me the recipe & I even ventured into the wine section and bought some red plonk!
Peel a carrot, a stick of celery, an onion & 3 cloves of garlic…
Chop them finely and saute them in a little olive oil…
Then add 1 cup of red wine, 2 tins of chopped tomatoes, a tub of tomato paste, half a tin of water, 2-3 teaspoons of salt, 3 teaspoons of Italian mixed herbs and 2 -3 teaspoons of sugar. It will look like this…
Leave it without a lid to simmer for the very least an hour. The longer the better. When the liquid reduces, add more water. By the time you get to serve, it will look like this…
It was really delicious, but a bit on the tomatoey side for me. Next time, I’ll actually use more mince. I only had a 350g pack, so I could have left out one of the tins of tomatoes. Thank you, Riana, it will become my standard bolognaise recipe. Mike had it with spaghetti. I had it with cheese! 🙂
That was last night. Tonight, I’m making butternut and sweet potato soup, but first I have gym to go to.
This morning as I said ‘Good Morning!’ I wondered how good it really was for some people. I can imagine that there are some people reading this who are on the verge of giving up. You may feel there is no hope! But this is really the case: as long as you have breath in your lungs, there is hope! And it’s not a hope that is temporary or begins tomorrow. It is hope for today! Psalm 33:20 says, “We wait in hope for the Lord; He IS our Help and our Shield.” Whatever is going on in your life today, know that God is with you. Your hope is in Him. He IS your Help and your Shield. Hide behind Him in the face of your adversity and He will help you and protect you during the storm. Now THAT’S hope you can depend on and be sure of!
God bless you enormously!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
