It’s not often that a seven-word testimony can change so many people’s lives, but that’s what I read this morning. And it was all to do with some of what was described at the time as the outcasts of this world – the Samaritans…….the Jews of Jesus time viewed them as worse than the Gentiles.
When Jesus sat down to rest at the well and the woman from Samaria was there, she had no idea of what a life-changing day it would be for her. Jesus tells her He is the Messiah. She leaves the well, leaving her jar and goes to the town where she delivers her seven-word testimony.
John 4:39
“He told me everything I ever did”
Many of the Samaritans believed because of those seven words. A lot more of them went out to see the Person she was talking about. They urged Jesus to stay and after listening to Him, many more of the Samaritans became believers.
I read an interesting thing online about Jesus and His encounter of the woman at the well. “Jesus explains that an era has began in which a person’s location (= ethnicity) no longer influences his or her relationship with God.” (Source: Abarim Publications)
It doesn’t take much for God to use a person. Seven words. She just had to speak them. God moves in our lives and touches us and speaks to us. When we tell others, we don’t need to bash them with religious speak. We just need to simply tell them what God has done.
I enjoyed reading that.
Today I worked for over 3 hours this morning and then went to Bible study. That was a great meeting. I appreciated it. This afternoon I did another 2 and this evening I have taken off and that is cause for gratitude!
#283 of my 1000 thanks is for an evening off. I will pick it all up tomorrow morning at 8am!
These are the days!
Keep the smile going!
God bless you!
In His Grip,
