Raiku and the Baby Puff Adder

Saturday

Dear Elsie

Today was a busy day that began really early. I heard my cell phone buzzing with messages and eventually dragged myself out of my slumber and looked to see what was going on. It was 4.30am and an electricity box was on fire up the road.

The fire brigade was called and soon put it out.

The fire was out, but the damage was done and it looks like it’s going to be an issue for a few days ahead. The houses on the Simon’s Town side won’t have electricity for a number of days.

While that was going on, this naughty boy found a baby puff adder…

Josh, who is staying in the Little Lookout until tomorrow was on his way up the stairs to our place when he encountered this event… not knowing what kind of snake it was, he stopped to video. Then he came to tell us.

We went down, found it was not a mole snake but rather a tiny little baby puff adder. We got the cats inside. Mike then used a stick to coax the snake back to the bush.

The video of Raiku dueling is here:

The cats were locked inside for a few hours. It is a reminder that it is snake season. That little critter will grow. Hopefully, he’ll find a home elsewhere. Fortunately, Raiku is aware of danger and I don’t think he’ll take on an adult one. The perils of living on the mountainside. The other thing is I need to get more Bravecto for the cats. The ticks are coming back.

A windy day, so there was no beach.

Isaiah 44:24
“This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb:I am the Lord, the Maker of all things..”

It’s not about now – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Gran xx
