This morning I played Graham & Helene, local artists singing Don’t Worry Be Happy, originally written by Bob Marley, but seemingly made very popular by Bobby McFerrin.

One of the lines that jumped out at me, I put on my FB status “In life we have some trouble, when you worry you make it double”. It goes along very well with the motto I selected for Rise & Shine this year : “To Worry About Nothing, Pray About Everything.” It’s amazing how much we worry. The busier I get, the more I have to worry about. This week has been unusually busy, work-wise as well as mentally and emotionally! This morning, I prayed about all my ‘issues’ and then went happily off to the radio station. As I was walking down the stairs from my 3rd floor office to the ground floor studio, one of the things on my mind popped into my head (again!) and I found myself asking the Lord “Do I need to worry about this?” Of course, the answer is NO! God doesn’t want us to worry about anything. Jesus Himself, says in Matthew 6:27 “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?” Paul in Philippians 4: 6-7 says “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Interesting that it doesn’t say God will give you all the answers & fulfill all your needs and wants. He gives us something much greater in peace for our hearts and minds. Wow! Great gifts!
It’s a huge relief to ask God “Do I need to worry about this or that?” Then to imagine Him saying “NO!” We all worry! This is a great strategy to ditch it as it comes at you!
The day has been a good one! After the show I went to my weekly ladies meeting and on the way there suddenly realised just how tired I was. With the evening training sessions at CCFm, I’ve been getting to bed later than normal and so last night had less than 6 hours sleep! That’s not normal for me, so I didn’t stay for the DVD today, just for the celebration of Wendy’s Birthday…
She was blown away with all the gifts. 🙂 I absolutely love to see our ladies spoilt on their birthdays!
Bev came with her ‘other’ son, Blessing…. so cute!
Today the weather has been WONDERFUL…
And now it is the weekend! 🙂 Tonight we have the last of the training sessions for us. Tomorrow, Mike goes in for an hour and then it will be ‘chill time’. 🙂
God bless you loads!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
