Perils of Egypt

Thursday

Dear Elsie

Today was a windy day. I spent 45 minutes walking with a little jogging in between. I am always impressed by the die-hard beach fans who, regardless of whether it’s windy or not, they gather at the beach and have their morning swim. As I was walking, I saw about a dozen of them getting their shot of cold water.  I am a fair-weather girl.  The wind is expected to drop tomorrow. I might get a swim in on Saturday.

I had a good day’s work & after it, Mike and I took a quick drive to the shop.  The new car is really a step up from the Ignis. It feels (and looks) much more robust.

This evening David and Anna came up for dinner. The sunset was quite lovely.

We had the TV on and one of the headlines was about a submarine that sank off Hurghada in Egypt. When we went via Egypt on one of our cruises, we went to Hurghada. I was really keen on the submarine excursion. Mike wasn’t & as we need 2 yesses, we did something else. This is the very reason risk averse Mike didn’t want this outing.

MSC uses a different company, but anything done in Egypt (to be honest) is risky! You just need to see how the buildings are built to know that corners are cut.

When we went to Hurghada we chose the beach excursion instead. I did a good amount of swimming and swam quite far. I’ll be more cautious about that next time. There was a shark attack there not long after we had been.

Our highlights of Egypt were the pyramids and cruising down the Nile, which we did over New Year in 2019. Cairo, the Museum and the Nile are all worth a visit. I wouldn’t mind seeing Alexandra one day as well, if a ship stops there.

Today I ticked of a big item on my to-do list. I got my travel laptop entirely functional for working on the ship. I will also have the IT guy on fast-dial in case it doesn’t work.

I’ve got a little bit of work to do and then I’m calling it a day.

Deuteronomy 8:17-18
You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” But remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth

It is Him.

It’s not about now – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Gran xx 🙂
