3-57pm
Okay, so I am trying to get this blog done and dusted before Mike gets home! I will complete all my computer work by the time he walks in through the door and I will not return to it until tomorrow morning when I turn it on in time for Rise & Shine! OK! Ha! Let me see if I can succeed in that resolution!
This morning I dashed out of the Rise and Shine studio at about 6-25, ran up three flights of stairs, took the sunrise photo and ran down again. Back in the studio, I tried uploading to Facebook, but for some reason it wouldn’t go, so you get to see the sunrise photo first…
I got home in lovely soaking, heavy drizzle. What a treat. Whenever it rains in summer, I reach for a butternut and sweet potato and make soup! Today was no different. It’s cooked and ready for blending. While it was on, I decluttered some of the kitchen. Good job! Mike will be impressed! I also polished the piano ahead of the piano tuner’s arrival tomorrow. The piano is David’s baby…. hey, let me take a quick pic of it…
It came about 14 months ago as an amazing answer to prayer. David had been given a budget by one of the most generous people I know, who knew he wanted a piano. David was keen on a baby grand, but thought he would have to settle for an upright. He spent a year looking for a piano. He couldn’t find the right one. Then he found a baby grand on Gumtree for a very low price. He called, but it had been sold. He was so disappointed. After that I remember praying and saying “Lord there must be a Christian in Cape Town that has a baby grand piano they want to sell and they can sell for a really good price.” A few Saturday’s later, I heard David on the phone making arrangements to go and see a piano that afternoon. Mike tagged along. They went to a home in Rondebosch where this piano was in a garage, dusty, with a broken pedal, dismantled piano seat, cracked music holder, broken coasters. It looked very very bad. They had had a quote to refurbish it and it was going to cost over R8000 to do the repairs. David found out this is a Christian family who were returning to the States and didn’t want to lug it back (they had shipped it here when they came!) David offered them a couple of thousand less than the asking price and they accepted. Mike, brilliant at woodwork, could see the potential. When it arrived, Mike made use of the 7 men who carried it in to put it up on blocks. Then he repaired the pedal, mended the cracked music holder and we varnished it up. Now it needs tuning. The piano tuner, no doubt, will point out all it’s other flaws but for the moment, we only want it tuned. Precious reminder of God’s goodness to us.
1 Chronicles 16:11 “Look to the LORD and His strength; seek His face always.”
Good advice!
Time to go and blend the soup. 5 minutes before Mike gets home. I’m planning to jog around the block with Stacey at 6pm.
Have a fab evening!
God bless you stax!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
