Old Memories

Today one of my childhood friends who goes back to my primary school days posted a few photos on Facebook that went back to the 70s. My Mom is on the far left. Her friend Vera has her arm around my Gran, Mops. The man on the right is my Mom’s boyfriend. It must have been in about 1979.

The other photo he posted had me quite shocked. It was me at 11 years old. I went to visit my friends and had a photo taken. What shocked me is that all I see in this photo is a lost little girl burdened with emotional pain.

While I hardly recognise myself, I do remember my hair which had been cut by Vera. There’s not much life in those eyes. In fact it looks as if I’ve been crying.

What a wonderful thing redemption is. The single thing that changed my life was to come a few years later when all the feelings of loneliness and loss were to replaced by a relationship with God which came when I gave my life to Jesus Christ. I come back to it time and time again. God saved me and I am daily so so grateful. Because of Him, I am where I am today. There is joy and life in my eyes!

You can’t undo the past, but you can change the future by choosing to follow God who loves you.

Today has been a good day. I had a joint Skype call with a colleague in Abu Dhabi and a new recruitment assistant in the Philippines. So it was 11am my time, 1pm in the UAE and 5pm in the Philippines. Amazing that you can do that.

I found it a particularly chilly day and migrated to my bed to work this afternoon. While we were in Swellendam, I found #764 of my 1000 thanks – pink slippers! My feet are kept warm when I am working.

Another thing I did today, talking of memories, is take a mental stroll down memory lane in regard to all that I remember about the birth of CCFm.  Some amazingly special times there.

Nahum 1:7

The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
