Nelson Mandela’s Condition Worsens…And Then Improves…

1-31pm

This was the headline that jumped out at me as I turned my computer on this afternoon. Apparently, the family was summoned to the hospital this morning. It looks like many family members have arrived at the hospital, possibly to say goodbye to the great patriarch of the Mandela clan. News trickling in over the last few days is that Madiba is on a ventilator and is also having kidney dialysis.  The President has visited him twice in the last 24 hours. No doubt, his condition is very grave, considering Jacob Zuma has cancelled a trip to Mozambique.

Madibas condition worsens

A short while ago I heard on the news that his condition has stablilised. What a roller coaster ride.

I can only imagine that it is extremely difficult for the close family members to cope with the sadness they are feeling while under the scrutiny of the entire world . The Queen’s cousin said after the death of Diana, “Many children have lost their mummy, but not many have lost their mummy so publicly”.  You can say the same with the loss of Madiba. On the day he dies, many other people will lose their lives across the world, but their deaths will be mourned by their nearest and dearest. The public interest has been staggering.

This morning, on air, I played this You Tube Clip…

7 Lessons From Nelson Mandela

…highlights from his life outlining 7 things to learn. They are:

1. Have faith in justice
2. Courage is the triumph over fear
3. With hard work comes progress
4. Take pride in your convictions
5. Show compassion to everyone
6. Be humble
7. Laugh

I believe Nelson Mandela is a Christian.  Certainly, since being released from prison, he has displayed the fruits of the Holy Spirit. His ideology has been one of love and humility. “If he is not a Christian, there is certainly enough evidence to convict him of being one!” (Mike’s quote!)

Philippians 3:20-21 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

And so on we go. Just waiting.

WaitingYesterday, I told you the amazing story of Mary. Today, I’ve put before and after photos up on that blog, so go back to it and have a look.

God is faithful!

May He bless you richly!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
