My feeling is that unless I make a plan, the days will drift past and nothing will be done on them, so I’ve made a bit of a to-do list for these 7 days at sea, at which we are half done with day two.
- Read Bible
- Get some exercise
- Do some washing
- Read my book – Anna Karanin – I am almost half way through the 870 odd pages.
- Write the blog.
There are other things to do, like recreation, go to shows, swim and of course EAT. That comes most naturally! You can eat whenever you like on board and as much as you like. The two together add up to extensive weight gain.
Tomorrow, I will add another to the list is that I have received an email asking for me to write another two yachting blogs. I’ve downloaded some information and will try do one of those.
We are still drifting down the Red Sea at a gentle pace. On one side we have Saudi Arabia and on the other Sudan, I think. We are expecting Sudan to give way to Eritrea and then Djibouti but I’m not sure when that will happen.
The Sinfonia has a state of the art gym.
This morning I went around 10am and managed to secure myself a treadmill for 20 minutes. My strategy is walk 2 minutes, run 3, so I did that until my time was up and then had a session on the machines. For the duration of my time on the treadmill and for some time after, there was a bird sitting on a rigging rope at the front of the ship swaying gently in the warm outdoor breeze. It hardly moved while I was there. It’s not the first time we have seen a bird far from land. When we were on our way to Israel, a bird appeared from nowhere and very unafraid, settled on the rail of the back deck.
So very cute. I couldn’t work out if it was wholly unafraid or completely exhausted. It soon flew to a higher point away from the people.
Mike arrived at the end of my work-out and we came back to the cabin for me to change into my swimming costume so we could go and join the masses for a swim on the main deck. There are masses!
The pool water felt warm – perhaps 25C and the air temperature was said to be 27 with 70% humidity. The thing I learned today which was really surprising in the temperature of the Red Sea. The announcement that came over the intercom said it was 30C. I Googled it and it is true. The temperature of the south Red Sea in summer is between 28 & 30 degrees Celsius. No wonder it’s so hot and humid.
We had a dip and then a short walk before sitting inside in the shade. No air conditioner there so after a while we headed back to our cabin where the efficiency of the air con has to be #448 of my 1000 thanks.
The internet is particularly slow and cumbersome this afternoon. We are not encouraged by the possibility of improvement either.
One thing I did encounter today is Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Always great when that comes up in my Bible reading. 🙂
These are the days!
Keep the smile going!
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
