Wednesday
Today was the day…
Julian bought a motorbike. Close to 4 decades ago, my older brother Arnie had a Honda 125 off-road bike. When he left Zim and went to Johannesburg, the motor-bike was temporarily left in my care and he taught me to ride it. He actually encouraged me to do so and for that short season it became my wheels around Harare. I was only 17, had my driver’s licence but not for a motor-bike. I can’t remember if I have written about the one memorable incident I had on this bike. I used to take it off road and go along dirt roads and across some rough patches. I remember going down a bit of a ditch – it was a serious dip in the path and as I tried to pull out of it, the bike stalled and fell over. I managed to get off without injury but I was not strong enough to pick it up. A short distance away a few kids were playing. They were about 10/11 years old. I called them over and they came with big eyes. We managed to get it upright and I got on and rode off.
Julian is sentimental and for Cape Town, he has bought the same model – it’s in memory of Arnie for sure! It will mainly be for putt-putting between Fish Hoek and Sun Valley where he will have an office.
The paperwork was done today – collection will be after it’s been registered.
This little excursion to Honda only happened after a trip to Paarl. What I didn’t mention yesterday was that we have run out of this tile for the bathroom floor…
I stopped by the tile shop but they had none left. The only shop in the Western Cape that does have stock is Worcester!! I phoned that branch and arranged for a box to be delivered to Paarl. Julian and I drove out to pick it up. I hope the tiles match. Sometimes there are slight changes with different batches and I think this one is a whole lot lighter.
What I do know is that part of it goes under a bathroom cabinet so hopefully it will be okay. On the way back from Paarl, we stopped at Canal Walk for the motor-bike purchase.
Home now, it’s been a rainy day. I did a full three hours work this morning before going on our road trip. A little later, I’ll go down to Echo. Mike has set up the kitchen island so we can see what the main bottom part of it will look like.
Tonight the President speaks. It looks like Level 1 is coming. This could mean the start of international travel and lifting of the 10pm curfew.

Psalm 130:7
Hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with Him is plentiful redemption.
Love that: plentiful redemption.
The best is yet to come.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
