Most Days Are Ordinary

When you think of life as the days go by, as you read the Bible and read the history of generations that have passed, one thing that is noticeable, is that most days are ordinary.

As I’ve been reading through Judges and how the Lord used 2 women for the downfall of the enemies of Israel: – Deborah who rode out to confront the opposition and Jael who killed Sisera, the commander of the Canaanite army. After this amazing victory, Deborah sang a song. It was an extraordinary day, recorded in Judges 5 and it ends with these words,

Judges 5:31

Then the land had peace forty years

I think all the ordinary days are tiny little increments that prepare and direct us to victorious days or extraordinary days.

What is interesting is that the victorious days cannot be achieved without the preparation and planning that takes place on the ordinary days.

Ordinary days are important days. There are many things you can’t achieve without little steps taken on ordinary days. Rome wasn’t build in a day.

~ To build a massive house, you need one brick at a time.

~ To save a lot of money, you need to take the first step and open a savings account and put the first amount into it.

~ To get out of debt you have to be disciplined to reduce unnecessary expense on the ordinary days.

~ To lose weight, you have to start with the next meal and eat a little less.

~ To get fit, you need to start with today and move a little more.

~ To clean out the clutter of my house, I need to keep going with the next piece of paper, toss the next newspaper, file the next bill, sort out the next file. shred the next document. Unless I do this on an ordinary day, it’s not going to get done.

To achieve your goal, you have to plan the ordinary day journey to get to it.

That’s what I’m learning.

#273 of my 1000 thanks is for rooibos tea. I like it without milk. 🙂

This is an ordinary day. Mike and I have been out for breakfast. We went to the coffee shop in Checkers and sat opposite each other reading the paper and enjoying being served. We did some shopping and now I am back at my computer and about to start work again. One of the joys of my blog is looking back at my photos where there are lots of memorable days. I thought I would add a photo – this is me right now with my rooibos….

These are the (ordinary) days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
