Yep! Yowzer! That was what I thought on Monday night when I suddenly decided to take Mike’s blood pressure while he was sitting at his desk working. It was late. About 10pm. He took off his jersey and we put on the cuff and turned on the electronic machine. It pumped up and up and up and up. I was watching it with some concern as it went higher and higher. Eventually, it started coming down but I knew it was going to be a high one. Imagine my shock when the machine recorded his blood pressure to be 188/115!
He stood up and we took it again. It was a little less with a diastolic of 110 and then when we took it a few minutes later it was over 95. It slowly started coming down, but it had recorded 188/115 and that was b-a-d.
Mike’s blood pressure has been a point of discussion for a while. One of the reasons he had that eye issue last year was possibly because his blood pressure was on the higher side and he didn’t know it. He had been to our GP and he had said it would be a good idea to monitor it over 24 hours – wear the machine they have and they could get a good idea as to its severity. Since last year, we have been (on and off) trying to get that machine without success. Tuesday morning after the Monday night event, I called the GP’s office and asked about the blood pressure equipment again. This time the nursing sister was on leave and I was told to phone next Monday. That wasn’t good enough, so I called Tokai Medicross, made an appointment for Mike and he went across to see the Dr and get their portable 24 hour monitoring machine. Only problem was, it was out so they told us to come back today!
This morning we were there at 9-15am and he was fitted with it and has now been walking around all day with his arm being pumped up every 30 minutes. At 10pm tonight it will change to every hour and that’s what will happen throughout the night. Tomorrow we will return it and get the results on Monday.
Since Monday night’s ridiculously high blood pressure, it has not been as high. In fact at one stage it was right down to 124/76 and has been pretty normal other times, so it’s really good we are doing this to find out exactly what is going on.
I don’t really want him on blood pressure medication but we need to know if it is necessary.
After his fitting, I took the day off and we went into Cape Town to Decorex.
We got there just as it opened and walked around with Mike interrogating a load of people about counter tops, bathroom tiles, washing machines, dishwashers, solar systems, flooring and a whole lot of other stuff.
We left at about 2pm and came home to the news that our departure documentation had arrived and we started going through that. I emailed as many of the neighbours as I could. There is one more to contact about meeting to sign for no objection. There are 6 altogether. I’m not sure how long this will take us but we will spend some time this weekend working on it.

Don’t just listen to God’s Word. You must do what it says. If you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says, then God will bless you for doing it.
Free advice for freedom.
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
