I’ve been seeing a lot of Facebook pictures of people comparing what they looked like in their first FB profile photo to today. My first profile photo was 19th July 2007. Wayne Turner took this. He had the right camera and I’d just had my hair done. Just looking at this photo takes me back…I felt so self-conscious. It reminds me that I never really like being in the public “eye”. I didn’t mind so much being in the public “ear” but I never relished the idea of being in the public eye. I would never do as a celebrity. Way too self-conscious.
11 and a half years later….a few more crow’s feet….a few grey hairs, but far less self conscious and certainly more relaxed. Cell phone camera shot.
When Wayne took that photo back in 2007, I felt I had to live up to people’s expectations. I really am so much more relaxed now. No expectations. I’m just me. What a pleasant place to be. July 2007, I was not yet 42. I’m now 54! What a blessing!
Back to today. Julian is arriving soon – so I’d better get this wrapped up before we trundle out to the airport. I’ve worked for 5 hours today, but I haven’t gone through any more of the 928 remaining CVs. Yesterday I started with them at 960 and got them down to 928. I need to log on and see how many more there are and try to reduce them by another 20 or so.
David came by so I had a chat with him. His latest on You Tube is this…
I also watched the birds descend on the nectar bottle. Today a few finch like birds came to visit. We have enclosed it so only the smallest birds can get in, much to the chagrin of the starlings. This little fella didn’t fit either…so he just sat mournfully hoping that something magic might happen to get him access. A couple of his brown buddies slurped up some juice, but I didn’t see him have a drink. Pity the photo is not clearer. Taken with my cell phone camera, good quality is not expected.
I managed tea with my friends today as well. Mike meanwhile has been drinking in all the Brexit drama. I promise you, he needs to become the adviser to the opposition. He knows exactly what they should have said. All I ever say is ‘poor Theresa May’. No one wants to be in her shoes. I think she may go down in British history with a reputation less than pleasing. It could be said she bought this on herself.
Matthew 23:9
One is your Father, He who is in heaven.
I trust Him. The Lord sees it all. Brexit, Trump, Zimbabwe, Kenya, every corner of the universe.
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
