Looking Ahead – Far Far Ahead

It’s not easy to predict the future. We don’t know for sure what will happen in our lives. We can expect this or that, but we can’t say for sure. Many a man has planned his life, yet it has turned out very differently.

Proverbs 16:9

We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.

Ultimately, though, we can look ahead, far far ahead and imagine what will happen.

Recently, words of an old song have been going round in my head. Whenever I think of them, I am taken back to a small school house in Chisipite. Many a Friday evening at the youth group I was going to, we would sing this song.  I had just come to know the Lord and the song was about a time far beyond my lifetime. 37 years have passed and I find myself reflecting on the words – they now have greater meaning. More of my life has passed than is ahead. That brand new day is a little closer than it was when I was 14!

The song was written by Adele Morgan and is called Bright New World.

Someday a bright new wave will break upon the shore
And there will be no sickness
No more crying, no more war
And little children never will grow hungry any more
And there will be a bright new morning over there
There’ll be a bright new world for us to share

Someday there’ll be an end to unkind words and cruel
And the man who said there is no God will know he is a fool
And peace will be the way of life with love the only rule
And there will be a bright new morning over there
There’ll be a bright new world for us to share

Someday we know not when, when time on earth is done
And those redeemed from every land will all become as one

Voices of all ages praising God the three in one
And there will be a bright new morning over there
There’ll be a bright new world for us to share

Someday a bright new wave will break upon the shore
And there will be no sickness
No more crying, no more war
And little children never will grow hungry any more
And there will be a bright new morning over there
There’ll be a bright new world for us to share
New world for us to share

The true story of love is God preparing a place for us. His plan all along was to have us in a place of beauty and peace. We wrecked it and He had to send Jesus as the ultimate sacrifice for all the sins we had committed. When we believe in Jesus and what He did for us, we can live with heaven in mind – predicting a glorious future the moment we take our last breath. Suddenly death carries no fear….

Someday a bright new wave will break upon the shore
And there will be no sickness
No more crying, no more war

At age 14, I remember this song to carry rather a sombre message – but all these years later, it erupts into my mind as a glorious message of hope with the sure prediction of an exciting life ahead, regardless of what the journey to the end of my earthly life holds.

The best is yet to come!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
