Lock Down Day 2

Saturday

So surreal. It’s really as if the world has pushed stop and everything has come to a standstill. That’s what it looks like but tune into the news both national and international and it’s clear the medical world is in chaos. The stats today:

Meanwhile, the USA stats have skyrocketed from not quite 86000 to over 105000 cases.

South Africa has gone up as well. Stats for today have not been released so these are still from yesterday…

Today I took the hose extension and dropped it at the build site. David is there, so he can wet the new cement. The hose that’s there doesn’t reach the top. I drove down to Fish Hoek and it was so quiet. I’ve driven a lot up and down Kommetjie Rd. For ten years I drove that route at 4:45am. I saw it empty many times, but never at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon. David came out and picked up the hose and I drove off to Harbour Bay Pick n Pay. It was quiet but not without customers. I passed about a dozen people walking separately along Simon’s Town Rd.  A few of them were workers returning from work. Having no means of transport to get home, they were left to walk. There were also a few ‘strandlopers’ dawdling along, looking suspiciously out-of-place.

It wasn’t only the roads that are quiet. Quiet South African skies…

Usually, there would be a string of planes flying backwards and forwards to and from Johannesburg and Cape Town and a number to Durban. The little one was labeled the SA Airforce. The big one was a Brazilian airline and the other two were un-named.

We have heard a couple of sirens from our house. It’s been a police warning, or calling someone to pull over. I also saw an army truck on one of the main roads. Mike did some garden work and otherwise we’ve had a very relaxing day.

And so Day 2 of Lock Down in Cape Town drifts to an end.

Philippians 4:6

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.

Good advice.

These are the days.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
