3-49pm
We had heard that Eskom could be load shedding and we had also heard that it could be from as early as today! For once they meant it and just before 8-30am this morning, the power went out at CCFm and shortly thereafter our generator kicked in. It took us all by surprise! When I went to the Eskom load shedding site, I couldn’t find the schedule, even though I typed in my area… this page came up at this website: http://loadshedding.eskom.co.za/
This is from the above website:
Load-shedding is:
- When there is not enough electricity available to meet the demand from all Eskom customers, it could be necessary to interrupt supply to certain areas. This is called load shedding. It is different from a power outage that could occur for several other reasons.
- It is a last resort to balance electricity supply and demand. We will only apply load-shedding when all other options have been exhausted.
- It is an effective way to avoid total collapse of the electricity supply grid (a national black-out) which will have disastrous outcomes for South Africa. If unbalances on the power is not managed this could lead to the risk of collapse of the entire power network. If this occurs, it could take more than a week to restore power to the entire country. By rotating and shedding the load in a planned and controlled manner, the system remains stable.
- Before load-shedding is applied, Eskom makes use of:
- Gas and hydro options
- Contracted and voluntary options with certain large customers to reduce their demand.
- If all these measures have been exhausted and demand still cannot be met, Eskom will proceed with load-shedding.
After much googling, I finally got the load shedding schedule from this url
So I’d better get this blog up before the power goes out again in my area. It looks like we are in for some interesting times. At least my dinner is cooked…
🙂
Regardless of what happens, we need to stand firm…this is what I read in my Bible this morning…
Stand Firm! Whatever happens in your life, keep going. If you have financial difficulties, keep going. Are you heartbroken? Keep going. Is your health failing? Keep going. Are your children straying? Keep going. Whatever is happening in your world, just keep going. If things are tough, don’t complain, just get up and do the next thing that needs to be done. Don’t worry about what others say or what you think they say or think, just keep going. Mark 13:13 “…he who stands firm to the end will be saved.” You want to be that person. So stand firm, keep believing, keep trusting, keep rejoicing! God is on this journey with you. You are not alone & the outcome is going to be GOOD! So keep your eyes on Jesus. Take one day at a time and you will find things working out.
God bless you!
You are in His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
