Life is actually quite messy.

I found a website that spoke about people who have influenced the direction of their children and grandchildren through prayer more than anything else. One of these people was a man by the name of  George McLusky. It is said that he prayed for  from 11am to 12 noon every day for the future generations to be faithful to God’s calling on their life. McLusky’s son  had only one child, but he also prayed. According to the website, he had torn leather on the toes of his shoes for spending so much time on his knees. I can imagine his knees were as tough as camels. His  child, a son is still alive today… James Dobson, who is now 80 and original founder of Focus on the Family, is still heard daily by millions of people across the world. What a legacy his father and grandfather have left through their prayers for him.

But there are things in the world that are hard to understand. Not all has gone perfectly well in the life of James Dobson. He has two children – Ryan who is adopted –  and a biological daughter Danae (now 51), who has never married.  Ryan had a short term marriage which ended in divorce after two years. He and his second wife have two children.

For all families, life may never be picture perfect. Each and every home has things that go wrong.

Life is actually quite messy, regardless of who you are.

People look at our lives and think it is very rosy and, compared to others, it could quite possibly be, because you can always find others that are a LOT worse off than you.

But I do carry emotional pain that people seldom see. I have blogged about certain issues in my life before and I don’t really want to dig them out and put them back on display. Just know that they are there.

Whenever I get all philosophical about these things, I find my mind wandering back to Paul and his lesson in contentment. It’s learned.

The way it’s learned is by depending fully on God and knowing that through Christ we can do all things.

We can be the best person with the difficulties with which we have been trusted.

Face hardship trusting in God.

We can trust God to see us through. He will not leave us. He will hold our hand each step of the way.

He has a plan. We may think we have chosen the right way. He knows which way is best.

Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to bring yo a hope and a future.”

Our lives may not turn out how we think they should, but trusting God we will see His plans turn our lives out in the way He allows. And, when we breath our last, life will continue in a most spectacular way possible.
