LCHF – Day 15 – Bringing Granny Home…

2-47pm

Last night I went to bed just after 8-15pm. I was so so tired. When I woke just ahead of my alarm this morning, I felt bright eyed and bushy-tailed. Off to work I went – it was still blowing a bit, but the view from the CCFm balcony was nothing less than fabulous…

Then it was back into the studio. I just love it! 1st November. New month. I left work around 10-30am, because the main event on the agenda today: BRING GRANNY HOME!

I stopped at the roadworks and took this fabulous photo…this could be anywhere in Europe, but it is KALK BAY!

I’ve never noticed the baboons before!

We live in a beautiful part of the world, accentuated by a magnificent summer’s day…

First stop on the way home was to get a new battery for my watch. Creation Jewellers has a very friendly lady, who replaced the battery and set the time right…

…all for R20! 🙂

I stopped by the chemist for linen savers and went home to prepare for the great arrival.  After putting freshly bought flowers in water…

….off I went to bring Granny home. Mike arrived in time to help her up the stairs…she is now having to move around mainly in a wheelchair (thanks Riana – yours is the best!). She can take a few steps, which is more than she could last week. Mike went to St. John’s ambulance and bought her a ‘swing’ chair for over the bath. We (Mavis & I) stripped her down, put her in the bath and gave her a good shower….all fresh and clean…

Welcome home Granny! 🙂

She is so happy to be home, but I have to tell you, the days ahead are going to have to be spent fully depending on the Lord for strength and patience. I can’t do this!  When we arrived home, Mike was at the door and she said, ‘Oh Pieter (her late husband) I’m so pleased to see you!’ Sweet Granny. The other funny thing that happened today is with her medical aid. They have not yet paid the plastic surgeon who cut that thing out of her face 3 months ago. So I phoned the medical aid and the gentleman on the other side of the phone, very sternly, asked me why I was querying the account and not her! I offered him the opportunity to speak to her. He accepted. So I gave her the phone and then listened with much amusement as she ‘conversed’ with the medical aid man. He very quickly understood that perhaps it was a better arrangement speaking to me. 🙂  When all these things happen, and I see her frailty and her dependence on me, I am left with no other option that to throw myself in, hook, line and sinker to caring for Granny. She is so pleased to be home; she is so appreciative; she loved the flowers so much.

Proverbs 23:22 Listen to your father who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old.

That’s my prayer…that I will not resent her…even just a little, in my heart even. The Lord will take her when the lessons have been learnt all round. In the meantime, she’s gonna love the chicken pie that’s for dinner! (None for me – I’ll have tuna salad! Yum!)

Happy days!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
