Wow! What a 24 hours it has been! Yesterday, when I was ‘out and about in Cape Town’ I was on my way here…
I climbed on a plane…
And soon arrived in Johannesburg. I bought myself one of these…
And climbed on the train for all of 3 minutes because there was a power failure, so we all climbed off and started waiting for a bus…
One bus load left and while we were waiting for the next one, we were told, to go back to the train station – the power failure was over…
And off we went…
I soon arrived at my destination and set about waiting for PJ…
He took me back to his amazing rented cottage…this is PJ’s view from the patio…
And this is us, sitting on his patio… PJ and me…
He is doing so well and up to the challenge of his new job. With digs like this, he is feeling very at home! 🙂 This is the view of his ‘cottage’ from the garden…
At 7pm, I was collected by Athol and Carynne… for the WHOLE reason I was in Johannesburg….for my brother’s 50th birthday! We went off to a lovely restaurant, where we waited for my brother, Julian to arrive with his friend Michal and his daughter Jessica…as soon as we saw him at the entrance, I jumped up and ducked behind a large pillar! When they were seated and comfortable, I made walked up to him and said, “Surprise!!! Happy Birthday!!!” His expression was priceless!! It was as if he had seen an apparition. I could see his mind spinning: “That’s Helga, but what is she doing here?” He was gob-smacked! Unfortunately the restaurant was dark and we didn’t get any photos of that moment! Jess took this photo of us later – the flash was bright!!
It was fantastically unexpected! So later, I went home with Julian and after talking and looking at old photos, we finally got to bed after midnight! I woke at 5, got up at about 6am and by 7am, Julian was up and doing some early morning work…
This is the book part of his life…
…with three or four rows of books behind this one (double in length)… He keeps his most valuable books behind glass…
Then it was off to the other part of his life…packaging….he had vital work to do before leaving to take me to the airport…here he is with Athol, his business partner…
It has been wonderful to put my mind in a complete different zone, spend time with Julian, celebrate his birthday with him and see a bit more of his life. Now I am at Oliver Tambo Airport, due to board in 15 minutes.
Tomorrow, we bring Granny home.
2 Corinthians 12:9 But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
His grace is enough!
I am grateful! In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
