Sunday
Dear Elsie
Today your Mom sent me videos of you playing on the new jungle gym and slide at the Padstal. It was so lovely to watch you! You are growing up so fast!
Meanwhile, today was the day our ship docked in Jeddah. I got up early and saw the sunrise..
It was amazing coming into Jeddah port. It sort of reminded me a bit of the layout of Cape Town harbour. The skyline, in places was not dissimilar as there was an upper freeway that could be seen from the ship. Also the bay around Jeddah is quite extensive. Of course, there’s not a mountain in sight.
Once we had docked, we walked 4km around the deck and then had breakfast. It was a hot day with the temperature in the early 30s. I spent the morning working in the cool of the dining room. The afternoon, we went up on deck and watched some amazing sights. It’s a working harbour and as it’s a Sunday, it’s a work day. There were cargo ships coming and going with tugs pushing and pulling.
And then there was this enormous floating crane that had a bunch of old containers on it. It carried them across the harbour and dumped them on the side of the dock. It was all very interesting to watch.
The sun sets early and fast. It’s already disappeared and it will soon be dark. Sunset in Jeddah. Looks like something out of Star Wars.
We are now about to go to dinner and are really hungry so it will be much appreciated.
Psalm 33:11
But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations.
The best is yet to come – we are only passing through.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you.
In His Grip,
Gran xx 🙂
