While my kidsย are now adults, it warms my heart to have them call. Being the Mom, I’m the Mother Hen, I want to know what’s going on in their lives – are they all right, are they warm enough, happy enough, are they coping with life and work and play?
Yesterday, they both phoned. David phoned first. I saw his name appear on the phone and grabbed for it, but Mike, who was in his study and also at the phone got to it first. Darn! He gets to speak to David! ๐ A moment or two later, I heard him walking up the stairs and I immediately thought, as a Mother would, “Yay! David wants to speak to me!” But alas, instead of Mike bringing me the phone, he walked past my study area to our bedroom and opened his cupboard to start looking for some clothes David needs!
Thereafter there was conversation about the colour of the pants which led to photos and finally Mike getting into them with a white shirt and another photo was taken and sent.
It warms my heart that Mike and David can share clothes.
It warms my heart that David happily comes to raid his cupboard.
It warms my heart that Mike absolutely doesn’t mind.
So an hour or two passed, yesterday morning and the phone rang again. This time I saw Stacey’s name come up and Mike and I were in the lounge together, so I was able to answer it. As the conversation began, she asked, “Is Dad around?”
“What!!??”
What is wrong with me today!? Why don’t my children want to speak to me?!! She explained she was thinking of buying a new cell phone and wanted his advice.
It warms my heart that Stacey will call her Dad for cell phone advice.
It warms my heart that she values his opinion and seeks his perspective.
It warms my heart that Mike loves it.
I would have it no other way. Just love these two.
Proverbs 23:25
So give your father and mother joy! May she who gave you birth be happy.
And she is! ๐
#102 of my 1000 thanks is all of the above….a good relationship with our children is more valuable that all the money in the world. ๐
I’m off to Johannesburg today – just for 24 hours. Back tomorrow night, hoping to get a blog done, somewhere along the way.
These are the days.
Keep the smile going.
God bless you!
In His Grip,
