1-35pm
It’s been a fabulous weekend. We have done some more cleaning out. I even cleaned out another bunch of clothes. You have to try it. It’s so cathartic….cleaning out all the unwanted, overworn, old, tatty, unused, too small, too big etc clothes accumulated over years!….all bagged and ready for distribution…leaving behind a nice orderly cupboard…
Last night the waxing crescent moon was out and we set up the telescope and had a look…amazing! What a sight!
I don’t know how Mike gets such a good photo of it through the telescope eye piece…he didn’t even think this was such a good shot. I thought it was brilliant.
Talking of Mike, how a man treats a woman when they are alone really shows what kind of man he is. Yesterday, while I was cleaning out my cupboard, I took a pile of socks to put on the mezzanine which is 2 steps down from our bedroom. I missed the first step, twisted my ankle (just a bit) and landed in an undignified heap on the floor! Mike jumped up and asked if I was hurt. “No,” I said, thinking about where there was pain. “Nothing too sore to worry about.” He came down the stairs and helped me to my feet. Care. Concern. Tenderness.
Ephesians 5:25 comes to mind: “For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her.”
Husbands may say, ‘but my wife doesn’t deserve it!’ But that’s the whole thing. You don’t love her because she does or doesn’t deserve it, you love her because you are commanded to. We don’t deserve Christ’s love for us, yet He still loves us and gave Himself up for us.
Wives part in it, shows up the verse before: “But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.”
As Mike treats me as he does, it’s easy to want to please him and submit to him in my life. Besides, he loves me and wants me to be happy, so never demands unreasonable requests from me.
He’s a great example.
I went to King of Kings this morning and Pastor John preached a wonderful sermon on how we can have confidence in God. 🙂
Amen!
Now we are watching cricket and it’s been a brilliant display of batting by the Proteas. SA 343/5. Pakistan have 344 to win.
God bless you loads!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
