In Sickness & In Health…

8-21pm

The longer I am married to Mike, the more I love him. One week ago he went to the doctor as something was not quite right. He was referred for an ultrasound, and a 9mm internal polyp was spotted. Friday we went to the specialist and today he had keyhole surgery to have it removed. Amazing what they can do these days. He is overnight in hospital tonight and home tomorrow morning! We are so so grateful that the polyp was caught before it got any bigger and more likely to be malignant. It may still be malignant but small enough to not have done any harm. TGBTG! Grateful! Grateful! 🙂

So today began with me dropping Mike at the hospital around 7am…

And then around 7-30am, I dropped Julian at Cape Town International Airport…

Then I went back to the hospital and waited with Mike until he was taken into surgery. I bought myself some coffee and sat in the waiting room, where I entertained myself with these word puzzles…

About 40 minutes after Mike disappeared behind the Theatre doors, the surgeon appeared. I was able to speak to him and he said everything went well! 🙂 Soon Mike returned from Recovery and he was awake and fine. I was  able to go home and have a sleep, before returning to the hospital this afternoon. After 4pm, I nipped home and made dinner…salad…

and one piece of David’s pizza…

Yum!

By 7-10pm I was back at the hospital. I’ve just got home and now am ready for bed. But I have found a couple of tablespoons of chocolate mousse left and am going to mix yoghurt with it and have a little snack. Calories not counted today!

When ill health comes along, our mortality and frailty always jumps to the forefront of our minds. This life as we know it will end. Maybe not now, maybe not soon, but it will end eventually! Yet, in the Bible there are words of Jesus in many places that bring clarity and comfort…

John 14:2 “In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.”

John 6:47 “I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life.”

John 11:26 “Whoever lives and believes in Me will never die”.

Our body may perish, but our soul continues onto another amazing place. If you believe in Jesus, you have nothing to fear. Last week during the discovery of this polyp, Mike & I discussed extensively the possibilities. Mike’s early departure entered our heads. This earth is not our home. We know that we are heaven bound. That journey has to be made. We are grateful that we have more time on earth to enjoy this life that God has given us, but we rest assured that when we are separated by death, it will only be for a temporary period of time. We will meet again. So we don’t live in fear. We have a hope and that is a joyous thing! 🙂

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂  🙂  🙂
