The highlight of the last 24 hours was a telephone conversation with Stacey. She had skype minutes that were due to expire, so she called me and we had a nice long natter. What a treat to hear first hand all her adventures in Cambodia. They are getting to know the staff at the hotel at which they are staying. Stacey tells me the main ‘reception’ man (who calls himself the ‘assistant manager’) has invited them to go home with him for a weekend – that will allow them to meet his family and experience authentic Cambodian life. It will be so interesting. I’ll wait and see if they take up his offer. In the meantime, Stacey has arranged permission with the owner of the hotel for her to use the kitchen to make mince pies. Of course Cambodians don’t know what those are. Stacey says she wants to make for all the staff which will be quite fun. It is going to be a very different Christmas for the two of them, but if she is sharing with the locals, it will make it all the better. From my side, all I want to know is that she is happy! If they are happy, I am happy! I won’t have nearly a happy Christmas if they are not happy!
This is Stace on the balcony of her hotel.
When she first told me they were going to Cambodia, I spent some time praying about it and for them. I actually got quite emotional with a very strong sense that the Lord has a special plan for them there. It didn’t move me so much when they were in Malaysia, but Cambodia was different. They are there for a couple more months and then plan on moving onto another region in the area, perhaps Laos or Philippines. Two Bible verses come to mind: Psalm 37:23 “If the LORD delights in a man’s way, He makes his steps firm” (one of my Dad’s favourite verses) and Proverbs 16:9 “A person may plan his own journey, but the LORD directs his steps.” I think Adrian & Stacey are very mindful of Proverbs 3:5-6 and look forward to a straight path.
Yesterday’s blog was wonderfully liberating. After making that list, I actually implemented a bit of it! 🙂 I cleaned out a whole lot of unused stuff, bagged it and have given it to Mavis. I also did half the shopping – going to the supermarket and buying ingredients for the two Christmas cakes that are to be baked in the next week. I also got all the toiletries we need. This afternoon, I have two things planned…one is to go to the grocery store for the fish and meat and then I’m also going to…. wait for it….clean out my cupboards!!! It’s time to get move all the winter wear and sort through all the summer stuff. Mike will not believe it when he gets home! So I had better jump to it! One other thing I’ve got to do is to do show notes for tomorrow. So it’s going to be a busy afternoon! 🙂
Remain Steadfast! Keep the Faith.
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
