I Haven’t Done This for Years

Saturday

Dear Elsie,

It was a good day today and speaking to you made it more special. I’m looking forward to getting the picture you have made for me. As for me, I had a very chilled day….a little literally because we went to the beach and the water was c-o-l-d! It must have been about 14C. This is what happens when the north wind blows. This afternoon the wind is from the south-east so I’m hoping it will warm up in time for my morning swim tomorrow.

Two cricket matches today. New Zealand played a Pakistan, packing on the runs and scoring a scintillating 401 runs before rain interrupted play. Pakistan, fearing rain would reduce their chances of a win, blasted the ball all over the park. When it did indeed rain, Pakistan’s strategy worked and they won. This was good for South Africa as it means we have qualified for the semis.

I was soooo hoping England would beat Australia and they may still pull a rabbit out the hat, but it’s not looking too good.

While the cricket was on, I sat on the floor and did something I haven’t done for years. I built a card house. They don’t make playing cards like they used to. I couldn’t get very high. First I managed 2 storeys …

And then after a few attempts managed to get up to 3 and a bit…

Before this happened…

When we were kids we used to build card houses and I remember my sister Anne getting up to 10 storeys. It was fun to try again, but I need a decent pack of cards.

A restful day.

Isaiah 35:3-4
Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way;
say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear;
your God will come,  He will come with vengeance; with divine retribution He will come to save you.”

See the bigger picture.

It’s not about now – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Gran xx 🙂
