Okay! It’s true! I’m not superwoman!
Recently, my life has become more demanding. Everything is taking on the appearance of work. My stress levels are rising. Christmas is coming. I’m not prepared. So much to do, so little time! For my own sanity, I need to take time out. But, the thing is, that in order to get to the time out, I need to get a whole lot of work done! I’m going round in circles, like a puppy trying to catch it’s tail! It feels like I’ve got a hurricane racing through my brain. I’m in the thick of it clinging to a windswept tree, about to be uprooted, and if it is, I’ll be swept away at 160km an hour. What should I do?
So here we go…here’s the answer when life get’s uber-stressful.
1. Make a list.
2. Once the list is done, put numbers next to each item with 1 being most important to do.
3. See if you can delegate any of the items.
4. Think carefully about the true importance of some of the items & re-evaluate how important they really are and if they can’t wait for a few months!
5. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
6. Look after yourself – take mini-breaks – even if it’s an hour here and there.
7. Spend less time in front of a screen and more time in front of a book, preferably the Book!
8. Order your day so that time is not wasted.
9. Shop once a week and not once a day – plan a menu for the entire week!! (Yes HELGA!!! Plan a menu for the entire week!)
10. If there are short-cuts to be taken, take them.
11. De-clutter your life – this is hard work in the beginning, but once you’ve done it, you will be so so glad you did. Get rid of all the excess. Go through your wardrobe – bag the old clothes you are never going to wear. Get rid of all the excess in your life.
12. Remember you can’t please everyone – there will be some people who are offended by your inability to meet their needs. Just do the best you can.
13. Be patient with yourself. You are not superwoman.
14. Get enough rest.
15. Relax! Not everything that looks like a problem is a problem.
16. Remind yourself, once you’ve got on top of everything, life will be much easier, so just get on with it!!!!
Finally, ask yourself the question, “what in your mind, needs to happen for you to really feel you have less stress?” Write the answer down and work towards it.
God’s Word Translation of Jesus’ words in Matthew 11:28 says, “Come to me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest”
Take up the offer!
So I did number 6 at La Sostanza in Lakeside…this was lunch…
Don’t worry, I turned my computer off while I ate. It was a yummy three egg omelet with basil, feta, tomato and cheese. It was really nice!
And after lunch, I worked on number 9!!! Can you believe it!?
