It’s a very short story across all media outlets. A brief report stating that the siblings had seen each other for the first time since the murders on the night of the 26th/27th January 2015. All that family spokesman Ben Rootman was reported to have said is that they were happy to see one another. Apparently the meeting took place last week already, so clearly quietly planned outside of the glare of the media.
The strangeness of this case is that there is a murderer still out there. No one has been arrested. While police are said to have collected more than 130 pieces of evidence and they don’t need Marli’s eyewitness account in order to make an arrest, there seems, outwardly, to be no movement in the investigation. But who knows what is going on behind the scenes. Perhaps they are formulating a water-tight case, so that when an arrest is made, a conviction will follow.
When I look back over news reports of other siblings who have suddenly lost parents, the siblings are thrown together through the trauma of the loss. I think of Myles & Ruth Munroe who died in a plane crash in the Bahamas last November. Their son, Myles junior and daughter Charissa were not on the plane. Myles Jr, who previously had shunned the limelight, stepped up to the plate, spoke at his parents funeral and has taken over his father’s international ministry in order to keep his legacy alive. The report on their progress was encouraging.
With the van Breda case, there’s something fishy going on. Eventually investigators are going to have to come up with something. Either there will be an explanation or else there will be an arrest. They can’t keep ‘mum’ forever.
And so we wait. And if we want to impact this case, we pray. Pray for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.
One of the things that has been on my mind over the last few days is how important humility is. Stay humble. Humble yourself. Remain humble. Live humbly. Pride comes before a fall, so it’s best to keep in perspective that we should not be puffed up and arrogant. Lower is better. Service is good.
Philippians 2:3
Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Stay humble. Keep the smile going!
God bless you!
In His Grip,
Helga xx 🙂
