Heading for the Tropics

Today is a quiet day at sea. We are heading for Port Said, Egypt. We should arrive there at 4pm today and the aim is to wait for our convoy to be called for the trip through the Suez Canal. The way it works is that the Egyptian authorities control the flow of ships through the Suez. They line up 8 vessels and let them through in convoy a mile apart. It takes about 12 hours to cover 193km, so this is not a speedy business. While we are due to arrive at Said at 5pm, it is only expected that we will enter the canal sometime after midnight. Here is the Wikipedia view of the Suez canal…

We woke this morning to the sound of workers putting out the sunbathing beds above us. There is a bit of clanking in the process and it serves as a useful wake up call. We dragged ourselves out of bed and got dressed for gym. Mike commented that we walk to the gym feeling 80 and walk out of it an hour later feeling 20. It is so! After the workout we spent about 10 minutes in the Jacuzzi on the deck. That was so refreshing. We grabbed a cup of coffee and took it back to our cabin where we enjoyed it.

Before we came away, we checked out the reviews for the Sinfonia. They were pretty bad. People complain about so much stuff. We have been on board now for almost 4 full days and I have to say that everything has been fabulous. I can’t complain about the food. Yesterday at lunchtime, we had the most delicious Hungarian goulash I’ve ever tasted. The service has been good and we can’t complain.

Altogether it has been a quiet day at sea…

This is Mike and I at one of the Greek ports…not bad for a selfie…

A short while ago we took a walk around the deck. There are some sights to behold! I’ll have to take a few pics up there. As we are heading for the tropics, it’s certainly warming up!

#443 of my 1000 thanks is for a cabin that faces the side it does….it’s been particularly pleasant and sheltered.

Today I was reminded of a word aptly spoken…

Proverbs 25:11

Like apples of gold in settings of silver Is a word spoken in right circumstances.

Tomorrow, I hope to post pictures of the Suez Canal. The internet is pretty good at sea, and hopefully that will also be the case tomorrow.

These are the days!

Keep the smile going.

God bless you!

In His Grip,

Helga xx 🙂
