Granny had a fall today…

8-54pm

I know from last year, that when Granny falls, it may seem harmless but more damage is done than first seen. I woke early this morning and went downstairs to read my Bible. Before settling in to do that, I noticed a strange light shining at the back part of the house (where Granny’s bedroom is). I went to investigate and found it reflecting from electronic equipment in the study (next to Granny’s room). While there, I heard Granny sleeping peacefully. While I was reading, I heard her shuffling to the bathroom and thought nothing of it. After I’d finished, I boiled the kettle, made coffee for Mike & I and prepared half a grapefruit for Granny. All that done, I took the grapefruit through to her room and found her on the floor the far side of the bed half-sitting/half-lying against the wall with her legs under the bed! She seemed to have been making her bed (a very long time-consuming process for Granny!) when her legs gave way and she slid down the wall onto her bottom, scratching her leg a bit on the way. She really looked fine…a bit shaken and a bit wobbly but fine. Mike & I got her back into bed and she stayed there for a couple of hours. A little later I got her up and walked with her through to the lounge and she sat and watched TV.

I had two highlights today. The first was leaving Granny in Mike’s care and heading off to Cavendish where I spent more than 3 hours with Tsakane who I met at the Colour Conference. She is a media strategist and was filled with great ideas for CCFm and the Rise and Shine show particularly! We met at 2pm and I got home at 6pm! That gives you an idea of how much we had to talk about!

I got home in time to snap this photo of the sunset…

I then put Granny to bed and Mike & I went out for dinner – my second highlight! We had a wonderful time!

I took one other photo…currency perhaps…these are not for me…

…but for David and Jack! They are very happy!

So now the day has ended and what a busy one it has been. Tomorrow I won’t be going to church…I’ll hang out with Granny and make sure she is okay before we leave her alone again. Last year, after her minor fall,  she ended up in hospital for 5 days and then Living Hope for a week. Hopefully this time she’ll be fine.

Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

God bless you loads!

In His Grip,

Helga x 🙂
