God Knows The Best Place To Get Oxtail!

You’ve heard of people praying for parking spots…I’ve done it before! And amazingly, I’ve had cars pull out, 10 seconds after the prayer! Is God, the Creator of the entire universe, really interested in where I park or my little issues. I know some people, maybe a lot of people, will think He has better things to do. But my conclusion is of course He is as interested in the little things as He is interested in the big, important things. He is all powerful.  Last night I saw a recipe for oxtail stew. I read through the ingredients and thought how simple can it be. This morning I thought how I needed to go and buy oxtail, having never made it before, I wondered if I should go to an actual butcher! Into my head, popped, ‘Go to Checkers.’  There is a Checkers up the road from CCFm, but I don’t go often, maybe twice a month. Where did that come from? Why would I consider going there for Oxtail?  As I got into my car, I laughed to myself and said, ‘The Lord knows the best place to get Oxtail. If this is truly a ‘thought from God’ I should find Oxtail on special at Checkers’. I expected a sign, saying Oxtail On Special! But I didn’t find it. So I asked someone if they had Oxtail. I was led to a display….Voila! Oxtail…

Nice! I asked if it was on special and they said, ‘yes.’ But because I’m human, I thought, ‘they are just saying that.’ So when I got home, I phoned around.  At my nearest Mall, all  three of the supermarkets that would sell fresh Oxtail don’t have. I asked the prices they would be selling at and the one said  R79-99, the 2nd said R84-99  and the third didn’t know the price! Suddenly, my fresh Oxtail priced at R59-99 not only was a great special, it was available.  God knows the best place to get Oxtail. Revealing it today became a faith-builder. If God knows the best place to get Oxtail, which,  in the big scheme of things, is actually miniscule, He knows ALL your needs. He knows your health needs, your financial needs, your marriage needs, your work needs, your family needs. He knows your every aspect of your life, big and small.  Start being intentional about trusting God with your needs, big and small,  and you will see more of His involvement in your life.

And so I came home and got the oxtail on for dinner tonight…after I browned it with onion and garlic, bacon and pork sausage, I transferred it to the slow cooker for the rest of the day. I’ll add some veggies and beef stock and by the time dinner time comes it will be perfect!

A long weekend lies ahead! Yippee!
