3-17pm
It’s been a good 24 hours. Granny’s face hasn’t swollen any further, although her right thumb is close to three time’s bigger than her left one. As I can’t get her into seeing the doctor tomorrow, I’ve made an appointment for her to see the doc this evening. I’m also going to ask him to prescribe a proper sleeping tablet for her.
Yesterday evening, Peter and I enjoyed a lovely walk up Silvermine…
One of the highlights of the walk was watching these dogs competing to get the stick first…it was most entertaining…
The plan for today was to take Peter to Kirstenbosch. With the rain, I thought it was an ideal outing. Knowing that the rain could abate for periods of time, we would be able to see some of the gardens. So not long before 11am, we were off over Chapman’s Peak, stopping at the top to soak in the amazing view of Hout Bay…
Kirstenbosch hasn’t changed much…as lovely as ever. This is Castle Rock with the gardens in the foreground…
This year is a big year for this wonderful Capetonian asset as it turns 100! Waterlilies are doing well…
This part of the gardens made us smile…they have a very unkempt looking patch, which they have aptly labelled “Wild Garden”…ahem?
This was our amazing ‘lunch view’…
It was over lunch that Peter told me of how Diane, his wife who passed away last year, first fell ill. It was while they holidaying in Europe and arrived in Vienna. Hardly able to breath, and clearly very unwell, he drove her to an Austrian hospital. She was thoroughly examined and immediately admitted. She spent 10 days in a Vienna hospital before being discharged. They then began the long trip home (by road) to England. Peter’s account of the journey on the day of discharge was nothing less than a nightmare. It was actually quite moving, hearing him talk of driving his ailing wife across a strange country in the dead of night looking for a hotel. I won’t forget that story.
When we got home, I noticed the frame of the puzzle was fixed! Yeah! I didn’t do it…I called Mike, ‘ah,’ he said, ‘you noticed!’ For sure!
It took me a couple of minutes and …
VOILA! 1000 pieces all in place…I did about 990…Julian did about 8 and Mike did TWO! 🙂 We all need each other!
Dinner – mild chicken curry.
My journey through the Bible this year, continues. Today I read Psalm 9:10 “Those who know your Name will trust in You, for YOU LORD HAVE NEVER FORSAKEN THOSE WHO SEEK YOU!” God has not, will not, cannot forsake you when you trust in Him. So keep seeking, trusting, believing, praising Him. He is your Provider. He won’t forsake you, EVER.
In His Grip,
Helga xx ♥
