Getting Caught in the Rain

Sunday

Dear Elsie,

Today was the day we got caught in the rain. Well, it was really only a passing shower, but it passed for long enough to get us nicely damp. We decided to walk to pick up lunch and snacks for David. After intermittent showers, the sky looked clear with odd clouds here and there. Mike concluded, with confidence, that the umbrella was not required and for him, neither was a jacket. I erred on the side of caution and put on a jacket. We walked down to Fish Hoek along the cat walk – the cloud in the distance should have been a hint.

We went to Woolworths and Pick n Pay and then walked up the mountainside to go home via Daisy Lane. There is a very quirky habit I have got into. I once read that walking backwards is good for you. The safest place to walk backwards is up the path that goes from Hillside to Daisy Lane. It’s safe because you can follow the edge of the path and seldom do I encounter people coming down.

From where I have come.

There’s a little turn off and Daisy Lane begins.

It hugs the hillside and continues up a rise.

Then it comes out at a little tarred road/driveway which joins Highway Rd. It was at this point we started noticing ominous looking clouds and quickened our pace. And then the shower began. I put on my jacket, zipped it up and upped my hood. Mike, not so well protected walked behind me, but he still got pretty damp! It was fun though. We got home just as the shower passed and promptly tumble-dried Mike’s top and my jeans.

This is an early blog because this afternoon, we are getting our social tank filled – first to John and Avril for tea and then to the Berettas for spaghetti bolognaise. A nice way to end the weekend.

David is staying home. He is exhausted today. He’s finished teaching and has taken up all he needs to not come down again until tomorrow morning.

Psalm 126:5
Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.

It’s not about now – we are only passing through.

Keep the smile going.

God bless you.

In His Grip,

Gran xx
