Gearing up for the weekend!

3-38pm

All downhill to the weekend it is! I claim it begins tomorrow morning at 6am! At 7am, we have 9 or 10 listeners joining us in the Rise and Shine Studio for our open show. These shows are always fun, vibrant and a bit unpredictable! Really looking forward to it! I’ll have photos of it tomorrow. Meantime, PJ was in as my co-presenter this morning. Here he is covering front page news…

So the event of the week has to be, so far, that I CLEANED up my desk and moved to the other side of the office. Now my desk looks like this…

And if I turn my head to the left, this is my view…

Okay, you may not be able to see too much sea in this photo but it is there between the two buildings and I can see it from my office chair! 🙂

Two things must happen now. I must go and put the kettle on and start preparing dinner!

YaY for Thursday!

I’ve been thinking about how toxic comparison is. If you compare yourself with others, you cannot win. Just think about it. If you are wealthy and you compare yourself with someone who is less fortunate than yourself,  you may take pride in yourself, your possessions and achievements and think that you are so much better than they! That’s not a win! If on the other hand, you are poor and you insist on comparing yourself with your wealthier neighbour, you are going to feel resentful and jealous! The answer? Don’t  compare yourself to anyone or anything! You find the perfect Biblical application written by the Apostle Paul…

Galatians 6:4 Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else.

Paul too had times of wealth and times of need. He figured out how to live in both situations…

Philippians 4:11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.

I love the practicality of the Bible. There’s an application for all areas of life. Contentment is learned!
